"WH" Question Word : 'What'
(i) 'What' is used to ask for information about something. e.g. What is the time?
(ii) 'What for' is used to ask for a reason, asking why. e.g. What did you do that for?
(iii) 'What' is also used for asking for repetition or confirmation. e.g. What? I can't hear you.You did what?
